Lessons I’ve Learned From My Daughter

Last night, as we drifted off to sleep, I kissed DD1 on the forehead.

“You’re such a sweet, special girl,” I cooed to her. She giggled and snuggled me close.

“Mama is so lucky,” I continued. “I have two of the most wonderful girls ever. You’re one, and DD2 is the other.”

DD1 stiffened, glaring in my direction. “I’m not one,” she informed me. “I”m THREE! DD2 is ONE!”

I suppose the lesson here is this: never insult someone when you’re trying to compliment them.
